Types of Membership & its Benefits

  • 1. Life Membership

Nepalese Ophthalmologist registered in Nepal Medical Council.

  • If membership taken within 1 year of NMC Specialist registration: Rs 10,000
  • If membership taken after 1 year upto 3 years of NMC Specialist Registration: Rs 15,000
  • If Membership taken after 3 years of NMC Specialist Registration: Rs 20,000

2. Associate Membership

All Nepalese Citizen, who are enrolled in residency program in Ophthalmology (in Nepal or Abroad) are eligible for Associate Membership after paying the required fee. 

  • Associate Membership Fees: Rs 5000 during Residency followed by addition of Rs 5000 after completion of NMC registration within 1 year.
    (Effective from 13th Jan 2023)

Benefit of Membership (Life/Associate) of Nepal Ophthalmic Society (NOS)

  1. One Time Life Membership fee.
  2. Receive Photo ID Card of NOS Membership
  3. Receive Free Membership kit (Certificate/ lapel pin) NOS (one time)
  4. Issue press release when necessary with legal consultation for its member as per decision of Executive Committee.
  5. Eligible to Participate in the Annual General Assembly of NOS.
  6. Eligible to vote/ Contest during NOS election
  7. Reduced Registration fee for members at Annual NOS conferences
  8. Reduced Registration fee for spouse/ Family members of the member at Annual NOS conferences.
  9. Reduced article publication charge in Nepalese Journal of Ophthalmology.
  10. A fully Air Conditioned Guest Rooms is available at NOS Building in Kathmandu at a very nominal tariff. Pre-booking is necessary.
  11. Eligibility for Awards, Fellowship, Orations by NOS.
  12. Participation on Leadership Development Programs
  13. Access to Member Corner of NOS Website (www.nos.com.np).
  14. Register complaint which may arise in workplace and effort to resolve conflict.
  15. Letter of Recommendation (if required) at nominal fee
  16. Give members an advantage for ICO Fellowships as NOS is a member of International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) and SAARC Academy of Ophthalmology (SAO).
  17. Associate Membership will be automatically converted to Life Member after completion of residency and registered in Nepal Medical Council after addition of required fee, however will have voting rights/ eligible to contest in NOS election after life membership is received.
